Why This Recipe Works

As I mentioned above, you only need 6 ingredients for this easy slow cooker recipe.  You may think they sound strange listed out, but once they are mixed all together you are going to be impressed with the flavor.

This recipe can made with a variety of ingredients and served with your favorite veggies.

Ingredients

Chicken Bacon Ranch ingredients - olive oil, chicken breasts, bacon, teriyaki sauce, ranch salad dressing, cheese
  • Olive Oil
  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts Halves (just throw in whatever you need to feed your family. I thawed mine slightly just so I could slice them in chunks)
  • Cooked and Crumbled Bacon (I used turkey bacon that I cooked in the microwave)
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Ranch Salad Dressing
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese

For the full list of ingredients and recipe, scroll to the bottom for the recipe card.

Variations Ideas

  • Chicken – We used chicken breast in this recipe, but you can also make it with chicken thighs. If you are making chicken bacon ranch casserole, you might like using rotisserie chicken.
  • Seasoning – Feel free to add in seasoning to what you prefer. Salt, pepper, ranch seasoning mix packet, and garlic powder.
  • Sauce – The ranch salad dressing is delicious but you can also add in alfredo sauce or cream cheese for delicious taste.

Step by Step Instructions

Placing chicken in the slow cooker

Step 1 – Pour the olive oil the bottom of the crockpot. Place chicken in the crockpot.

Combining the ranch and teriyaki sauce in a bowl

Step 2 – In a small bowl mix together teriyaki sauce and ranch dressing.

Pouring the sauce over the chicken in the crock pot

Step 3 – Pour over chicken. Toss crumbled bacon over top (reserve some for topping).

Top with shredded cheese and chopped bacon

Step 4 – Cook on low for about 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Remove the chicken, shred and return it back into the crock pot. Top with the shredded cheese and the reserve bacon. Cover and cook on low until the cheese is melted.

Recipe Tips

  • Shredding Chicken – After cooking the chicken, you can shred the chicken with two forks. But you can also shred the chicken with a stand mixer with these easy steps.
  • Combining Ingredients – Combine the sauce with the chicken together until coated with the ranch dressing mixture.

You can easily turn this into a freezer meal. Place all the ingredients except the cheese into a freezer bag and freeze.

Then when you are ready to use, place the food into the crock pot frozen (take it out of the bag first ). Cook on low, top with cheese and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Store Leftovers

Store the leftovers in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. We like to place in individual containers for a delicious lunch for the week.

Can I Make in the Oven?

Yes, you can make baked cheesy chicken in a baking dish. Layer the ingredients in the casserole dish and bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes covered in aluminum foil. We even like to broil for a few minutes to melt the cheese. You may need to pound the chicken so that it about the same size so it cooks evenly.

How to Reheat

Reheat this shredded cheesy chicken in the microwave in about 1 minute intervals until heated through. If you have a lot leftover, you can also place in a baking dish and reheat in the oven.

  1. Teriyaki has soy sauce which I’m allergic to. Is there a substitute I could use?

  2. 5 stars
Hi, can you also show how all your future recipes for crocks can also be converted to use in Instant Pots as well, please? Because I have & use both depending on my time! TY LizMoranCoyne

  3. I found this recipe through my ziplist app. I was intrigued by bacon in a slow cooker recipe and had to try it. I almost got scared off when I reread the ranch dressing and teriyaki ingredients—but it was so good!! Oh my. I used frozen chicken tenders and cooked on high for 3 hrs then broke them up into smaller almost bite sized pieces before adding the cheese. The flavor was everywhere. I ended up making baked potatoes as what I thought would be a side but I tried the chicken on top and that became the meal. No need for sour cream on the potato—just the chicken bacon recipe. It was amazing. So impressed. Especially for such a simple recipe (I made extra bacon a few days prior when making fried rice). Thanks!
