CVS Crash Course: Lesson 3 (All About ECBs)

It is time for Lesson 3 in the CVS Crash Course: All about ECBs (extra care bucks). This is the heart of CVS. Stay tuned for the next lesson where I will show you how to get stuff for free and even get “paid” to buy items at CVS. Enjoy the video. (If you missed the other lessons, go here to see them all).
update: Sorry, everyone. I didn’t realize the video was set to be private! I just made it public. That was not intentional. I guess I need a nap. :)

If an item that has an ECB promo is paid for with an ECB, will you still get the promo ECB?

Yes, There is no reason why you should not get a new ECB printed out on your trasaction receipt regardless of how you pay for your items. An ECB is basically CVS cash to be used any way you like.

To save time in the store have “Plan B” items in mind with coupons in case they are out of whatever was “Plan A”, even if you get a rain check. I spent way too much time in the store today because they were out of what I origially went in to buy, but I needed to use my ECB by today (June 30th). I had to figure out another spending plan in order to play the CVS game well (rolling over the ECB!) and that can be hard to do when surrounded by all the products and tags and a coupon box and a cranky toddler! :) I ended up spending $1.66 oop, spending $15.99 in ECB and earning $6 ECB and a raincheck for “FREE” tampons.

Getting started on my ECB at CVS. I am looking at the ad for this week. Creat toothpaste 2.99 with card and get extrabucks reward of 2.00 limit of 2 per household. So lets say I but 2 crest and receive the 4.00 in ECB. They also have a but 3 Softsoap products and get 3.00 in extrabucks. Spend 15.00 on L’Oreal Cosmetics and get 5.00 in ECB. So what I am asking can you build up ECB like this in one visit.
    Thank You, Cindy

Yes Cindy, you can accumulate ECB in one trip. What you might want to do is do seperate transactions so you could spend some of you EBC and keep oop lower. Like, buy the toothpaste and softsoap in one transaction, then you have $7 in ECB to put toward the loreal products transaction. :)

Tonight was my first time using my Extra Care Rewards. I was nervous but your video made feel confident:) The clerk was very helpful as well. He had me do my 2 Starbucks drinks and my milk first using some of the Extra bucks I already had and 2 coupons for the Starbucks so I would get the Extra Bucks for the milk and starbucks. On the 2nd transaction I bought a bunch of school supplies and used 2 CVS coupons for $4 off $15 and $2 off $10 on school supplies PLUS my Extra bucks…I ended up spending a whopping $3.57 total and still had $1.50 Extra Care Buck left that I earned!!! I’m still a little confused about the whole thing but am def gonna start couponing at CVS now! Thanks Carrie!
