Frugal DIY – Create a Custom Thunder Lamp for under $20!

As most of you know, we will be moving in a few months. We promised our kids that they could get new rooms – the boys wanted to pick out “big Boy” themes. My oldest wants a Thunder Room and the twins want an OU room.

Both of these are fun ideas, but this can get very inexpensive. I am getting really creative on giving them the rooms they want without breaking the bank. Today I wanted to share with you our Thunder Lamp. You do not have to be crafty for this one.

I bought a plain lamp at Target  – it cost around $15. If you want to try this same concept, make sure you get a shade that is flat. We picked out a lamp that had a plain flat white shade.

At Academy, we bought a small package of fatheads and inside included was a Thunder Logo. For those of you that don’t know, fatheads are like stickers. This package cost me $14, but it has several different “stickers” for me to use throughout his room. This one sticker would be less than $5.

All I did was stick the fathead on the lamp shade – voila!! You have a custom lamp for under $20!

My son loves it and I love it, because it only cost me $20, instead of probably $50 for a Thunder lamp. 😉

Now, you don’t have to have a Thunder room to do the same thing – it could be a princess room, a car’s room, etc… The possibilities are endless!! We will be doing this for our twins and their OU room.
