My Homeland Shopping Trip: 3/18

Hi everyone! I went shopping last night. Before I tell you all that I got, I have to tell you I am mad at myself. I did 2 transactions. Somehow I messed up and only bought 2 boxes of Kelloggs in the second transaction, so I didn’t get my second free gallon of milk. I was just so irritated with myself. I bought ALOT of food, so I guess I got overwhelmed. I’ll probably have to send the hubby to get 3 more boxes of cereal, just because I am loving the free/cheap milk. 😉

I did 2 transactions and I used 2 $5/$25 Homeland Thunder Coupons. I spent a total of $27.32 for $255 worth of groceries (according to receipt)! WOW! That is alot. However, I got ALOT of stuff, so I am justifying my overspending. The receipt also says I saved 90% and 93%. I am going to try to list it all, but I miss some. Here we go:

  • 1 Gallon of milk (cost me about $.18 after my catalina coupon from previous trip)
  • 2 Bar-S Hot dogs (free after printable -not available anymore)
  • 2 turkey meats (free after coupon)
  • 4 snackerz
  • 1 ideal sweetener (free after peelie)
  • 2 Low dose Bayer (free)
  • 4 banquet fruit pies
  • 1 TGIF mozerella sticks ($1.50 after using the coupon they sent me)
  • 2 Taco bell taco shells (free after coupon from All You)
  • 2 Wheat thin Stix
  • 2 Wheat thins
  • 2 Nutri-Grain Bars (Used $1/2 coupon from Nutri-grain package. Plus, these came with more coupons inside. Woohoo!)
  • 2 Hiland sour creams (there is a $/30 off printable)
  • 4 pop secret popcorns ($.50 each after printable)
  • 14 Yoplait yogurt cups (used (2) $.50/4 coupons and (1) $.40/6 coupon)
  • 4 Jell-O Temptations
  • 2 Jell-O gelatins
  • 4 boxes of Ronzoni (2 penne and 2 spaghetti)
  • 2 Snack combos (free after printable)
  • 2 Tyson Chickens -$3.99 after coupon (Thanks Chenea! she had coupons for $1 off any)
  • 4 Juicy Juice boxes, 8 packs
  • 4 packages of shredded cheese
  • 6 boxes of eggos (Chenea also gave me (2) $1/3 coupons that she got in her Nutri-grain bars. $1 a box still seems high to me, but my kids are going to be so excited! )
  • 2 bags of Lay Chips
  • 5 boxes of Kelloggs cereal
  • 2 BBQ Sauce
  • 4 Boxes of Premium Crackers
  • 2 dozen of eggs (I used 2 coupons for $1/1 eggs when you buy 2 Kellogg’s cereals)

OK, I think I listed them all! That is alot of food! I did end up with a catalina for a FREE gallon of milk and a $2 off Catalina. I had used my previous $2 Catalina on the purchase above.

There have been alot of people complaining about Homeland and them getting “picky”. I had a “picky” cashier tonight and was not bothered by it at all. I had checked and double checked all my coupons to make sure I was using them correctly, so I was not bothered by him reading and re-reading them. I still saved the money! Remember, to always coupons with a smile! 🙂

If you want to learn how to save like this, you need to go to a free coupon class. You can see all the Homeland deals here.

Okay, Carrie, it always depresses me to read your posts after I think I’ve done such a good job. Of course, I’m not as committed as you.

About the checkers: the Homeland on 104th & Penn said I had to put each coupon on top of each item, and they had to total out my purchase between each coupon to make sure the coupon value wasn’t exceeding the item value. Also, they said you can only use your Homeland Card once daily now, so no double purchases at that store. They swiped my card before the transaction began to be sure I hadn’t already used it that day. Plus, they will not let you split purchases even if there is nobody in line. Apparently it’s a policy they started Thursday. I just continued to smile and sympathized with the extra work that store’s new policy has caused them.

This Homeland is the most convenient to me, and the one on my way home from work. Between working and softball practices right now, I can’t manage more than one trip a week if I want to get to bed at a decent time, so I guess I’ll never do as well as you, but I just wanted to let the other ladies know this who may be able to go multiple times, that they need to choose a different Homeland!

Thanks for all of your work so I can actually have time to coupon! I don’t know how I’d do it without your shopping lists to help me!

I read about the Homeland Coupon Policy changes and haven’t had a chance to shop since then. Are you able to do two transactions like before?

Where do you get Thunder Coupons??

    • Jen -

Brittany-You get them at the Thunder games. Inside the program they give you at each game, there is a $5/$25 coupon. If you aren’t able to make it to a game, try to see if a friend is going and can grab you a few programs. I did notice the couple I have (from a friend) expire on 3/31.

Where do I send my trip pictures and stuff!?
