SnickerDoodle Cookies Recipe

snickerdoodle cookiesThis Snickerdoodle Cookies Recipe is a family favorite so we make them all the time.

Oh these Snicker doodle cookies are delicious!

The fact that they are rolled into cinnamon and sugar is enough said… right?   I make them into small cookies, so you could roll them in bigger balls if you want bigger cookies. BUT for my family we love bit size cookies. That way the kids can have 3 or 4 and it is the same as 1 or 2 big cookies. 😉

I am not the best baker in the world, but this is a fail prooj Snicker doodle cookies recipe.

Total Time: 20 minutes

Snicker Doodle Cookies Recipe

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter (you could use an entire cup of butter or an entire cup of shortening, but I liked it like this)
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Topping:
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening, butter and sugar. Stir in the eggs.
  3. Combe the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt in a different bowl.
  4. Stir into the creamed mixture until well blended.
  5. In a small bowl, stir together the 2 tablespoons of sugar, and the cinnamon.
  6. Roll dough into one inch sized balls, then roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar.
  7. Place them onto a cookie sheet and Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Edges should be slightly brown.
  8. Allow to cool before enjoying. 😉

Now remember these are made from scratch so they are extra delicious but if you need a slightly quicker version you should try our Cake Mix Snickerdoodle Cookies Recipe.

By the way… Did you know that you can freeze cookies so you can have fresh baked cookies later? Stay tuned tomorrow for that post!
