Save Time on Clipping Coupons

cut newspaper coupons in half the time

Today I wanted to talk about cutting newspaper coupons. It can be tedious, especially if you are getting several newspapers like my family.

As promised I finally got the video done for how I clip my coupons. It seems like such aย  simple idea, but like me, many of you probably haven’t even thought about it. This is an old video, so bare with me on the quality, but it is still very relevant. For years, I have cut my coupons this way and it has really change my Sunday evenings.

Also, before I forget, make sure you head Right now, because you can snag some great deals online for newspapers. Just go here and then type in your zip code to find the best deals on newspapers in your area.

There are discounts on all newspapers right now.

So… back to my post – I went to edit the video and realized I did a TERRIBLE job. You will have to forgive me. Instead of deleting the video, I decided to ad captions of me making fun of my self. My husband chuckled as he watched it so I am hoping you will to. If you have been to a Coupon Class, you know that I love humor! Without laughter, life would be boring, right ๐Ÿ˜‰

So many people quit couponing, because they can’t find all the time to clip coupons, organize, shop, etc… My goal is to keep you as a couponer -meaning to keep giving you tips that I have learned along the way so that you will save money for a lifetime!

I hope that you laugh a little but also learn a way to help save you time with clipping coupons. Make sure you leave a comment and let me know what you think.ย  Enjoy!

What about printable coupons?

Now, I’m not sure if you knew, but I use about 80% of printable coupons now. I love to print coupons because it is so easy and even easier to cut. Make sure you visit our coupons page for the BEST printable coupons right now.

Now to save time on cutting out those printable coupons, I use a paper slicer. I highly recommend one of them here. In fact, this is the exact one that I use (and it is on sale right now). Woohoo!

Great Job Carrie! I’ve been stack clipping for a few weeks and it really has helped. I learned the hard way…….not to cut off the barcode. ๐Ÿ™ I have added tape to my box for just such emergencies. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Carrie! When you cut three of the same coupon can you use all three on one transaction or three separate? Great information! Thanks!

I actually just started doing this very thing about a week ago! It certainly has cut down my time. As far as sorting though…I have a binder with the baseball card dividers that I use to keep my coupons. Can you please explain your sorting technique (and the materials used) because it certainly seems faster. I like my binder because it’s easy to carry everywhere in case I find unadvertised deals and need a coupon I wasn’t planning on but I have become a little lax since Christmas about keeping them sorted because it is SO time comsuming. What would be your advice for me. I know there are LOTS of deals I have missed out on because I wasn’t prepared. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks so much,

Thanks for the tip about stacking them. Hadn’t thought about that. The one thing I do differently is to use a ruler instead of scissors to “clip” them out. It takes me less time doing it that way.

This is not a terrible video! You did great! Now I know why it takes me all morning (Seriously) to clip and organize!

Thank! You did great…enjoyable and informative! โ˜บ

Great job! I’m glad I’m not the only one that says “olden days” ha! I’ve been stacking them but not filing them right away. I’m definitely going to have to do that. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Randi -

Thank you!! I was doing it all wrong and it was taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r! Can’t wait to try your way this weekend!

Great idea!! Thanks for taking the time to Share!!!

Great info…I hadn’t caught on to buying several papers yet. When I get to that level I’ll never clip the “old way,” since you taught me the speedy way B4 I developed slow habits. And why re-do? Firstly, maybe only you see faults w/ your video–I thought you were personable and clear. If you were TOO perfect I’d fear I’ll never learn this system cause I’m not up to the required standards, lol.

It’s so simple and it works! Why didn’t I think of that hahaha!

Be sure to recycle all your paper in your nearest recycling fund raiser bin. I recycle at my church for MOPS.

Anyone ever thought to use a quilting mat and the cutter (razor blade that looks like a pizza cutter) ? They use them for cutting squares of cloth, it seems like it would lend itself very well to cutting stacks of pages even more quickly.

It’s what immediately jumped into my mind before watching the video.

  • Joann -

I staple mine together before clipping. That keeps all like coupons together in my folder.

  • KC -

Video didn’t appear:(. Know you were probably in hurry but typo regarding why so many “quick” couponing vs. quit ๐Ÿ™‚ ez to do. Hope I can watch video soon!
